Birthday blues... or maybe not so blue!

Another year has passed and who doesn't sing those birthday blues! I think this is the first year that I have really felt the effects of the years passing by to their fullest effect.

You start feeling the aches and pains before you even get out of bed in the morning. That first cup of coffee almost seems to be a requirement so that you can get yourself out the door in the morning. Staying up late doesn't even seem like an option as the bed is more enticing then the thrills and euphoria that you had from seeing the clock hands hit 3am and getting breakfast with your head having never hit the pillow for the night!

This year has seemed more crippling then the past, but am still pushing forward. My immediate family has only gotten stronger from where we were only one year ago and this birthday may have been one of the top 5 that I can "remember" (and yes age does play the factor in the whole remember part).

This year was the first year that we all decided to get all dressed up and go out to a nice restraunt. It was very much a social experience that I think most family's need to undertake! I don't think that life allows us to have social meals anymore and so it is rare that a family will sit at the table for more then 30 minutes and enjoy conversation and good food together.

We went to The Melting Pot, which for those who have never heard of it is a fondue themed restraunt where you end up cooking your own meal on your table in fondue pots and the meal is delivered in what I could call stages. Excellent experience and a great time out to spend with one another talking about the food and life and your overall opinion of the foods that are presented to you.

Life is always rush, rush, rush and the television is almost always on with eyes glued to it. I think it may almost be beneficial to use your formal dining room (granted I don't have one and if I did I would certainly make sure that a television wasn't in viewing distance) and once a week enjoy time together as a family.
